Mathematics Department was established in the year 1990. Abstract concepts are explained in a lucid language such that comprehension is assured and easily understood by all sections of student community. Efforts are made to ensure that the students feel that learning Mathematics is an enjoyable experience. Develop skill sets so that students are confident to solve extra work assigned to them on their own. To overcome the difficulties faced by non-mathematics students in BBM and BCA courses - introductory classes are engaged to highlight the concepts required for the present syllabus.

- The Department has a library with complementary copies maintained and circulated among the students
- Every year a lecture/seminar by eminent speakers on various topics of mathematics are organized
- Guest lecture was conducted on "India's contribution to Mathematics" by Balachandra Rao, Honorable Director, Gandhi Centre of Science and Human values
- Guest lecture by Ramesh B Kudenatti , Professor in Mathematics, Central college on “Scilab and Maxima” was conducted
- A workshop was conducted on "Science Models" by Rajani, Dipti.B, Lakshmi from Break through Science Society
- Activities like puzzle, dumb charades, typing equations in equation editor, quiz , lecture competition etc are conducted under Science Forum-Scientia
- Final year students attended workshop on “Cryptography through Mathematics”
- Π –Day celebration –every year on 14th March

- Cash awards will be awarded for highest scorers in BU and BCU examinations
- Leelavathi D.B has secured 4th rank in Bangalore University exam
- Several students score centum marks and more than 90 marks in Bangalore University exam
- Manasa A.S of III B.Sc has secured first prize in mathematics lecture competition held at Vijaya College
- Priyanka S of II B.Sc has secured “ A Grade” in 52nd annual inter-collegiate contest in Speaking on Science subjects for degree students on “Golden ratio “at Bangalore Science Forum , National College
